Late in the afternoon, after a huge fight with longtime sworn enemy Heather Grover, Fievel Mousekewitz yelled angrily in the park and cried alone on the bench. As his adoptive Mother Mrs. Brisby saw him, she knew Fievel was upset. She went up to Fievel and said, "Fievel, you look upset. What's the matter? Why are you crying?"
Fievel looked at her with angry tears in his eyes and said, "Mom, I never thought you'd ask. Heather Grover is so mean! She made me angry for no reasons! She cheated on a math test with a key, the teacher didn't believe it and she picked on me all the time because I'm a Jew! She was jealous of Cholena and tried to break us apart by trying to destroy her necklace in front of her! I'd rather run than play with that little brat!" Fievel yelled. He buried his head in his hands in anger. As for his sister Tanya, she also knew that Fievel was upset.
She hugged Fievel and told him, "There, there, Fievel. It's not your fault." "It's not?" He asked sobbingly. "No, of course not. It was Heather. She hurt your feelings and she picked on you." Tanya said as she consoled him tenderly. "Tanya, If you and Mom were both here for me and to protect me from Heather, you would confront her in a serious way. I would've had one other to defend me from him, but I didn't!" Fievel sobbed and started to cry loudly. Mrs. Brisby and Tanya hugged Fievel lovingly.
However, Heather Grover was very angry when she saw Fievel with his adoptive mother and sister. She did not realize she made him cry and accused him wrongfully of things he did not do. She scuttled off as Fievel glared at her through the gap in Tanya's arms. "Fievel, we're going home." Mrs. Brisby helped Fievel up and took him home with them. "Where do you think you're going, Jew?" Heather yelled as Fievel went away. Fievel glared at Heather. "Leave me alone!" he shouted. He left with his family, but Heather wouldn't give in without a fight. "You don't run when I talk to you!" Heather yelled again. "YOU COME BACK HERE, BOY!!!" They were gone already. "Darn it!" Heather cursed. "He's dead at school when we come back on Monday!" She did not know that was so not going to happen. She just went home in anger as the sun began to set.
